Brie Gelinas, Consultant and Project Manager

Brie learned the importance of food from her grandmother's passion for nourishing her family after past war turmoil. Today, Brie is a producer, consultant, and community organizer who imagines and supports new food systems.

Brie’s experience is rooted in social justice movement building, story facilitation, and film and event production. She began film and event production in the early 2000s and moved to festival production with a focus on environmental sustainability in 2008 in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia.

In 2010, she built an online organic food business to support local regenerative farmers and sustainable food producers. She quickly felt the strength in building community practices and began organizing events to support her local food producers and to create a thriving food culture in her area.

After moving to San Francisco in 2012 and starting a family, Brie joined the Founder of Real Food Real Stories (now Food Culture Collective) to grow and build the nonprofit organization. Within five years, Brie grew this nonprofit from a Bay Area to a nationally focused organization. With her team, they created more than ten educational programs. They produced large 500+ person bi-annual events and free-monthly 100-person events focusing on supporting local food producers and creating a thriving local food culture.

Using story, art, and personal cultural experiences, Brie believes we can reclaim and reimagine our relationships with food and disrupt a culture of extraction and exploitation. She passionately believes in building and growing thriving local food systems through a culture of care.
